Joe Berry

(Affectionately known as "Crabby Joe")
Working with Joe Berry for over 14 years has been a highlight of my career with Food Link. As the Volunteer Coordinator, it is hard to find the words to describe Joe and his abilities, accomplishments and dedication to the less fortunate.

Born and raised in the Washington D.C. area, Joe attended Gonzaga High School and the University of Maryland. He had a career as a waterman, was a wholesale seafood distributor and owned Pop's Seafood Inc. in Prince George's county.

Joe moved to Beverly Beach in 1985, married Fran in1989 and they have a blended family of four children. He is active in his church choir, does premarital counseling, grounds maintenance at his church, is a eucharistic minister and is involved in the St. Vincent de Paul food ministry. He received the Archdiocese of Baltimore Volunteer of the Year Award and assisted at the Anne Arundel County Food and Resource Bank for 5 years. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Hope House.

Over the many, many years of service to his community he has delivered literally tons of nutritious food to families who are living on the edge. His knowledge of the needs of the community is vast as well as his understanding of food rescue.

In the truest definition of the word, Joe is a hero and a blessing to this community. I am honored to work with Joe and call him my friend.
