Clinton Wallace

Born and raised in the Severna Park area, Mr. Wallace has been happily married for 49 years and is the proud father of four children and eight grandchildren who are in college majoring in nursing, social work, and pre-med. He served in the Air Force and is retired after 36 years as a maintenance supervisor for Anne Arundel County Public Works. He is an active member of Asbury Town Neck UMC, where Pastor Ronald Ward saw the need to provide food assistance to the community.
Mr. Wallace enjoys fishing in his spare time, doing lawn work, and much needed projects around the church.
When asked what he liked best about volunteering for Food Link, he said, "I truly enjoy being able to be a part of helping individuals in need. I look forward to my routine pickups and drop offs. Seeing smiling faces, hearing words of appreciation and watching dozens of people receive needed food items. That touches me deeply."
"My most interesting experience was getting my first pick-up and delivery. Many occasions have been rewarding, but on one occasion an elderly woman told me how much she appreciated a loaf of bread because she couldn't afford to buy food, as she had to purchase her medicine. On another occasion, a woman told me what the delivery meant to her and her four children. I have always felt the need to do something like this for the community and Food Link has granted me that opportunity."
Mr. Wallace does multiple pick-ups at many local stores and Food Link's Produce Program and delivers to feeding programs in the Severna Park and Glen Burnie area. Over the last decade he has delivered thousands and thousands of pounds of nutritious foods. He is always available and willing when I call him to do special, unscheduled pickups. Mr. Wallace is truly special, always ready with a smile and a helping hand! His life and service to our community makes a real difference in the lives of our struggling neighbors.
We sometimes forget about the steady, unrelenting pangs of hunger. The pangs hurt everyday and without the efforts of volunteers like Mr. Wallace, these needs would go unnoticed. He is truly leaving a legacy as he makes a difference in the lives of those around him. Thank you Mr. Wallace for your friendship, extraordinary service and compassion to the community.
